Privacy Policy

Last updated · August 2, 2026

RouteRune stores your rides on your device. There is no account and no RouteRune server. We do not receive, store, or transmit your ride data.

1. What the App Stores

Location. RouteRune records your route while a ride is active, using your device's precise location, and calculates distance, duration, and speed. Recording runs as a foreground service with an ongoing notification so it continues when the screen is off. Location is collected only during an active ride.

Garage and settings. Vehicles (nickname, type, make, model, year) and preferences (units, map style) are stored on your device.

RouteRune has no account system and contains no advertising or analytics SDKs.

2. What Leaves Your Device

Map tiles. Maps are drawn using OpenFreeMap. Displaying a map requests tiles from its servers, which can reveal your IP address and the map area being viewed. No ride data is included in these requests. OpenFreeMap handles them under its own privacy policy.

Purchases. The one-time Pro unlock is processed by Google Play. RouteRune receives only whether the purchase exists and stores it as a flag on your device. Payment details are never visible to the app.

Exports. Exported files are saved to your device's storage. A file leaves your device only when you share it, and only to the destination you choose.

Transparent and photo posters, GPX, and KML exports require no network.

3. Retention and Deletion

4. Security

Ride data is held on your device, not on a server, so there is no central database to breach. It is protected by your device's own security — screen lock and storage encryption. No method of storage is completely secure.

5. Third-Party Services

No ride history is shared with any third party.

6. Children

RouteRune is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

7. Changes

Updates to this policy are posted on this page with a new date.
