Terms of Service

Last updated · August 2, 2026

These terms govern your use of the RouteRune app and this website. By installing or using RouteRune, you accept them.

1. Use of the App

RouteRune is a ride journal for motorcycles, cars, and bicycles. It records rides on your device and exports posters, videos, GPX, and KML files.

You may use RouteRune on devices you control, for personal use. You may not redistribute or resell it, or circumvent its paid features. RouteRune is not directed to children under 13.

2. Map Data

RouteRune has no offline maps. Map styles are bundled with the app, but map imagery — tiles, label fonts, and icons — is requested from OpenFreeMap, which serves OpenStreetMap data. Without a connection, the basemap is blank.

Requires a connection: the live map, the map on a saved ride, map-backed posters, and video exports.

Works without one: ride recording, statistics, ride history, GPX and KML export, transparent posters, and photo-backdrop posters.

Map availability is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. OpenFreeMap is a third-party service we do not own or control. We may modify, switch, or discontinue the map data sources the app uses if a provider changes its terms, pricing, or availability. No particular provider, map style, or level of availability is guaranteed.

3. Pro Unlock

Pro is a one-time in-app purchase. It unlocks MP4 video export, the transparent stats overlay, and the photo-backdrop poster. Recording, ride history, the Garage, map posters, and GPX and KML export are free.

Purchases are processed by Google Play; payment details are never visible to the app. Pro is tied to the purchasing Google account and is restored on reinstall. Refunds are governed by Google Play's refund policy.

Video export renders a map and therefore depends on the sources described in Section 2. The transparent and photo-backdrop posters are composed on-device and are unaffected by changes to map providers.

4. Your Content

Your rides and exported files are yours. We operate no server and do not receive them.

Map-backed exports contain OpenStreetMap data, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). RouteRune renders the credit "Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors" into every map export; it must not be removed. You are responsible for what you choose to share.

5. Safety and Accuracy

Do not operate your phone while riding. Start and stop recording before setting off and after stopping.

Ride statistics are estimates derived from consumer GPS hardware and are affected by signal quality, terrain, and weather. Do not rely on them for navigation, legal, insurance, employment, or safety purposes. You remain responsible for obeying traffic laws.

6. Availability

Features may be added, changed, or removed as the app develops. RouteRune is distributed through Google Play and is also subject to Google Play's terms.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

RouteRune is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that map data will remain available, or that data will not be lost. A ride in progress is held in memory until saved; a force-close or device restart during a ride may lose it.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost rides. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid for the app.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, or affects consumer rights available to you under the law of your country.

9. Changes

Updates to these terms are posted on this page with a new date. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
